Daniel Greer: Yeshiva, its Controversies, and The verdict!

The Journey of Yeshiva Rabbi Daniel Greer is best known as the founder of the Yeshiva of New Haven, which was started as a small orthodox day school but gradually grew into a few full Yeshivas with elementary school and high school for boys and girls. After studying to be ordained as Rabbi with Yehoshua Neuwirth, Daniel Greer moved to New Haven. It is then when he thought that there were not enough Religious schools in New Haven, so he set up the Orthodox day school. To make Yeshiva and its surroundings better, Daniel Greer set up various organizations to redevelop the neighborhood around Yeshiva, including the fight against prostitution in the locality. Daniel: His wife and life Daniel Greer has had a very turbulent professional life since he graduated from the Princeton University. Even though he was engrossed in discharging his responsibilities as a prominent and moving figure associated with the Save Soviet Jewry, Daniel did not miss out his personal obligations. In 1971 he got married to Sarah Bergman who was a day school teacher. Parents and Origin Rabbi Daniel Greer was a very ordinary New York-born Jewish kid with educated hardworking parents. His father Moses Greer was a graduate from the City College of new work and worked as a wholesale reseller of wool. Daniel Greer ’s mother, Angele Greer was an intellectual educated Egyptian lady with a graduation from the University of Paris. Both of Daniel’s parents where modern orthodox Jews and much of their orthodox ways of thinking were embedded in the way Daniel thought and saw the world. He was brought up attending day school and later his high schooling at Manhattan Talmudical Academy.
