Daniel Greer played a very instrumental part in the relocation of the “Kosher Kitchen” Yavs. This was one for the Young House Israel at Yale where it was moved to a location on-campus from Westville. This small Kitchen was even there when Greer was a law student in Yale during the summer of 1961 September. However, there were deterrents in the form of non-participation from students because though initially food was served to eight students. To create a welcoming and friendly environment Greer made efforts in moving the Kitchen to 24 Avenue Dixwell from Young Synagogue of Israel. Hence paying “university board” was stopped, location off campus was changed and the option of having TV Kosher dinners also came to an end. However, Greer did a lot for the natural environment too and the details are as follows.
Founder of New Haven
Daniel Greer founded New Haven yeshiva in 1977. This is when the School of Connecticut was moved in 1982 to the Building of Roger Sherman. This school had a backyard that Greer caught site of and it then it used to be called “asphalt jungle”. In place of the asphalt that was too suffocating, cracked and pitted, he made began work and transformed the jungle into a field that looked very country style. A grass cover was added that was kept alive with sprinklers installed. Seating arrangements were made and now the place is the most calming and welcoming green escape.
Dedication and vision
It is his visions and dedication that has made significant changes in the lives of people and people shall remain thankful to his gestures.
