Daniel Greer the founder of Yeshiva of New Haven has been associated with this prime foundation that happened during 1977. It is when the school of Connecticut moved in the year 1982 to a new building called the Building of Roger Sherman that started serving students from all age brackets. It was then that he found the backyard to be called a “jungle of asphalt”. Apart from the playground that existed since the Vintage times of the 1950s which have spanned over acres now. Initially, it was all entirely covered in cracked and pitted asphalt. Though a noble soul like him was disheartened yet he never lost hope. These are the following things he did.
Bringing life to the vision
Daniel Greer the founder of Yeshiva of New Haven dreamt of styling this particular field by the suffocation of asphalt. He strived towards bringing life to his visions. Thus, work on the plot began with placing sand beneath pieces of playground equipment so that children are safe. With the landings having padded one could easily move on them.
Asphalt was finally replaced and removed with grass with earth. However, the sturdy equipment of the playground was kept as it is. Sprinkler systems were brought in for keeping the grass alive so that a play yard is kept lively.
Calming greens
In the present times, the particular yard has a white birch stand with trees and sitting places that are completely antique style. There is living greenery on every nook and corner of the field. Many may have found the entire Yeshiva move to be negative yet Greer has with his vision and dedication has given birth to a welcoming escape.
